I purchased a pair of New Balance (608?) about a week after labor day from the Fremont store, on the recommendation of a co-worker, who said they would hook me up and get my feet feeling better. I didn't have the extra money to get the more expensive ones, but was told that anything was better than what I was currently wearing. I spent almost $70 on them, much more than I'd normally spend on shoes. Now I noticed a week or so ago (approx 4 months after purchase) that there is a crack/hole on the sides where my little toes are and I can see through to my sock on one foot. I called the store to see if they could help me over the phone. The lady was no help whatsoever. Just told me that there's no warranty on the shoes but that I could bring them in and they'd take a look. Yes at that time I was upset but figured maybe they would do something when I went into the store. I couldn't make it in until today. I went in to talk and see what they could offer me. The same lady that answered the phone (I'm not sure of her name) was the only one inside. She came to help me and I told her my problem. She said something like "Oh yeah, your the one who yelled at me over the phone." I did NOT yell at her, on the phone I did not yell at all, I may have raised my voice at the store today, simply because I was upset, but I did NOT yell! (as I've said to my kids, if you want to see yelling, I'll show you YELLING!!) Her only defense the entire time was that she "didn't make the shoes" Yes I realize that you didn't make the shoes, but that doesn't mean your company didn't sell me crap. I'm not rough on shoes and can usually get a pair of $20 walmart shoes to last over a year. But I can't get a pair of “New Balance”(Wohoo!) to last even 6 months?? Something is wrong with this picture if you ask me. And who do you get mad at when your food isn't made correctly, the server, even though the kitchen staff is who's responsible for the error, and in the end the server's tips are the ones that suffer. All this lady offered me was $20 off the next purchase. (But she told me as I walked out, that if I was nice about it she would have given me a free pair or something like that, so basically if I was a pushover and didn't get upset because I bought a POS shoe...) I wasn't asking for a full refund, or a free new pair of shoes, but surely you can do better, and I shouldn't have to be a pushover in order to get results. Instead, because I complained, albeit maybe a bit harshly- but I was upset and I'll admit I tend to overdo it just a bit when I get worked up but i never once was threatening (besides telling her I'd post about it on facebook) or violent. But because i complained as any disgruntled customer would, she felt the need to tell me to leave or else she would call the police. I have NEVER had someone tell me they'd call the cops on me before. I've worked in customer service for 12 years and I would never treat a customer this way. I may not be able to make it right for them, but I would never threaten to call the cops on someone unless I felt they were threatening me or getting physically violent. I will NEVER return to this store, no matter what offer is made to try to make this right, you have officially lost my business. And I will be sure to tell everyone I can how I was treated.
Excellent overall experience. Great quality footwear, with first -rate service.
Always have good service and they are very nice. No waiting either
Nice store good selection of quality shoes. Good service
I feel it is necessary to bring attention to how I was treated. I honestly don't even give one star, it would be zero if I could get away with it. Poor doesn't describe it correctly, "Awful" comes close but still doesnt correctly describe how I feel after today.
Worst part is, these wonder shoes, that were supposed to make my feet feel better, did nothing! My feet still hurt everyday just as bad as before except now my toes feel crunched at the top because the expert shoe guy said I should be in an 8.5 instead of a 9 to a 9.5. (walked out of the store and they felt fine but after breaking them in a few days later they started hurting and feeling too small)
